I'm a Composer/Sound Designer who can code
I have logged thousands of hours working with Digital Audio Workstations including Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic, and FL Studio to produce, mix and master my compositions into final products. As a One-Stop-Shop, I am capable of creating professional sounding recordings from start to finish, and my understanding of this entire process allows me to work seamlessly with others in a studio environment.
I compose with a variety of tools including Sibelius and FL Studio, but I am equally comfortable composing in front of a piano, working alongside other musicians or vocal talent. I have a trained ear and keyboardist skills to go along with my knowledge of music theory. I have a deep understanding of Unity and Microsoft's C# language, with experience designing games and working with audio. I also have experience working in Unreal Engine 4, using C++. I am fluent in JavaScript and am capable of quickly learning new languages as needed. I apply my understanding of programming to develop sophisticated solutions for all audio related tasks and by assisting others, regardless of department. I have written code that manages the implementation of title music, background music, and sound effects that is clear, concise, and compatible with other assets. |
Born and raised in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, with a strong passion for art and music since early childhood, I grew up surrounded by family members who were doctors, engineers and scientists, so studying math and sciences has always been a priority for me. I like to think that I use my math and science background to full effect when composing music and designing soundscapes for media.
I began my college education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Pre-Law. It was there that I discovered my talent for composing oddly enough, spending most of my free time around the College of Fine Arts. I ended up finishing my education at Columba College Chicago with a bachelor's in Music Composition. Once I felt comfortable composing music for media, doing work for my classmate's various short films, I began my journey into the world of programming, development, and audio engineering. My unique perspective as both a musician and developer allows me to better enrich virtual environments through sound, and I have dedicated myself to making the projects I'm involved with sound as incredible and inspired as possible. I continue to improve each and every day as I am always learning new skills, techniques, and software. |
My Musical Adventure Game: Electronica Vs. Acoustic
To demonstrate my skill-set, I am developing a Musical Role Playing Game that highlights the different musical characteristics of my favorite genres: Trance, House, Classical, and Folk.
Working on this project has required me to learn to learn new skills I never thought I would be using as a musician, greatly broadening my understanding of production overall. As the lead developer, designer, artist, animator and musician, I have learned to budget both time and money, sketch out storyboards, design sprites, animate 2D characters, and score a fun, playable game using the Unity Engine.
My understanding of programming has gone far beyond the realm of audio and into developing a UI, creating a unique "game-feel", designing interactive rhythm games, implementing a dynamic dialogue system, inventing several types of player movement including a rotational system that accounts for proximity to the center of a planet, and much, much more.

Above is a game I am developing that puts the player in a giant oceanic world where he/she must capture all the fish by colliding with them. Collide with pirate ships to board them and press Spacebar when standing at the center of the ship to reenter the ocean. You can use arrow keys or WASD to move. |
Above is a link to a demo version of my first game. It can be played within any modern browser, no downloads necessary. It showcases a contrast between acoustic and electronic dance music I have written. |
